Types of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Approval
Two types of AEO authorization:
1. AEO-C1 Authorization:
Customs Simplifications for companies meeting the criteria:
- Satisfactory customs, tax, and criminal history
- Effective management system for customs records
- Financial solvency
- Professional competence
- Simplified physical and documentary controls
- Priority processing of shipments selected for customs inspection
- Exemption from financial guarantees
- Priority for laboratory analysis during product inspections subject to standards
- Authorization to submit simplified declarations and establish a global guarantee
- Priority treatment and personalized support for customs clearance facilitation
2. AEO-S2 Authorization: Security and Safety For companies meeting the criteria:
- Satisfactory customs, tax, and criminal history
- Effective management system for customs records
- Financial solvency
- Appropriate security and safety standards
- Prior notification of customs inspections
- Reduction in data required for summary declarations
- Facilities related to signing mutual recognition agreements between your country, your regional organization, and third countries
These two OEA authorization statuses are subject to common requirements from the customs administration:
- Good moral standing of the company (absence of convictions for serious criminal offenses);
- Traceable management system;
- Existing internal control procedures;
- Proven financial solvency over the past 3 years;
- Expertise in customs matters.
